Threaded Hydraulic Tube Fittings - PEHEL Hydraulic
- How to order a hose fitting
Types of fittings
Hydraulic hose fittings are needed when connecting various conductors such as hoses, pipes and hydraulic hoses in the hydraulic system. Most fittings have a male and female thread portion to accommodate the fitting and to control and direct fluid flow. In addition, leaks can be prevented and the pressure in the hydraulic system can be maintained. Consequently, hydraulic fittings must be strong, versatile, and reliable to function safely and effectively in their respective applications. These fittings typically adhere to strict standards that dictate the design, dimensions, and pressure ratings of the fitting.
1. Connection type PEHEL hydraulic fittings
Hydraulic hose fittings attach via a number of different connection methods, each with their own convenience and benefits.
2. Compression PEHEL hydraulic fittings
Hydraulic compression fittings include all types of fittings that use compressive force to connect the vessel to the fitting.
1) Standard compression fittings use metal gaskets, rings or hoops that compress to form a seal against the container. Compression is typically accomplished by tightening a nut onto the fitting over the tubing and ferrule, compressing and securing the container internally. No tools are required to assemble standard compression fittings, making them quick and easy to install on site.
2) Bite fittings are compression fittings with a sharpened ferrule that "bites" into the vessel when squeezed, creating the seal. Bite joints, like standard compression joints, do not require special tools to assemble, but provide a stronger, higher pressure joint.
3) Flare fittings consist of a body with a flared or tapered end. Special flaring tools are used to install the vessel inside the flared end, ensuring a deep seal. Flare fittings can handle higher pressures and a wider range of operating parameters than standard compression fittings.
3. Crimp PEHEL hydraulic fittings
With crimp fittings, a hose is placed over a pipe end and crimped against it with a sleeve, ring or crimp sleeve. These fittings typically require crimping tools or machines to connect.
4. Terminate the PEHEL hydraulic connections
End fittings provide specific surfaces for connecting reservoirs in hydraulic systems. A flat end is a pipe fitting whose surface allows the pipe to be joined by gluing, welding, welding, or other permanent means. Welding, when properly performed on compatible materials, provides a strong and reliable bond.
5. Flange PEHEL hydraulic fittings
Flanged fittings are collars, ridges, ribs, or collars with flush surfaces that are perpendicular to the attached tube or pipe. These surfaces are connected and sealed using clamps, bolts, welding, soldering and/or threads.
6.Push to connect
Push-to-connect fittings have ends that are designed to accept tubing by pushing it into the end. These fittings are usually separated via some form of collar pull-back. These connections are useful for parts of the system that need to be disconnected and reconnected frequently.
7. Threaded hydraulic PHELE fittings
Threaded fittings have screw threads (built-in grooves) on their inner (female) or outer (male) surfaces that are designed to accept connections with mating threads. Threads that provide a simple connection but no sealing are referred to as straight threads. Tapered threads are designed to provide a tight seal against pressurized gases or liquids. Sealing reliability can be improved by adding coating or sealing tape (Teflon). Particularly precise threads are referred to as "Dry Fit" which means they seal without additional sealant, which is important in applications where the addition of sealant could lead to contamination or corrosion. The thread size is measured and referenced to the inside of the vessel. Thread size standards include NPT (National Pipe Thread) and BSP (British Standard Pipe), although other standards exist and usage often varies by country and industry. Each standard corresponds to a specific number of threads per inch (TPI).
